Information About Cancun For Spring Break

Cancun is a very popular place to visit, but before heading out to this vacation destination during your next spring break, there is some information about various differences between Cancun and the United States that should be considered as you do basic research for your trip. These include not only the weather in the area but also the currency used, business hours, and medical facilities.

The climate in Cancun is considered to be semitropical, and the average temperature is about eighty degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year, making it a very comfortable place to visit year-round. It tends to get the warmest from April to September in that it can get to be up to ninety degrees in some cases during these months. In other parts of the year it can get to be as low as seventy degrees in temperature.

Spanish is the main language that is spoken in Cancun as is with other parts of Mexico. Because Cancun is such a popular place for spring break and for travel among American citizens there are many places where English is also spoken, but it can't hurt to attempt to learn some basic Spanish phrases before visiting.

The currency used in Cancun is the Mexican peso. The value of the peso against the American dollar and other forms of currency changes every day like it does with other countries. American dollars and other types of currency can be easily exchanged without fees at various places throughout Cancun. Many major hotels, banks, and airports in the area will offer currency exchange services. Banks in Mexico will typically be open from nine in the morning to about two in the afternoon on weekdays but exchange houses may be open for longer hours.

Another factor to consider for spring break in Cancun is that of the policy on drinking and prescription drugs. The minimum age for drinking in Mexico is eighteen. Prescription drugs can be brought into the country for personal use but it is best to pack the original prescription with the drug's generic name in case you are questioned.

When it comes to conducting business or shopping in Cancun, it is worth noting that businesses around Cancun are generally open from 10A.M. to 10P.M. Central time every day. Many stores may close between two and four in the afternoon as a part of the standard siesta period in town. Many stores are also closed on Sundays.

If you are in need of medical facilities during your spring break in Cancun, you will find that most hotels have doctors on call all day long. The health care in Mexico is also nationalized and therefore is accessible to all visitors. There are no vaccinations required in order to enter the area either.

In conclusion, when preparing for your spring break trip to Cancun it helps to know this information about Cancun, so you have an idea about the climate, currency, language, and businesses around the area. Legal details on drinking and other activities should be considered as well. If you consider these factors, you will no doubt find it even easier to enjoy a great spring break in Cancun!
